Snow Sports

The rear-view mirror, on the mountain.

You wouldn't drive without a rear-view mirror. Knowing what's happening around you is the difference between operating safely and operating blind — in any environment. HINDSIGHT brings that same standard to the mountain. Built into the lens.

The lens, in motion

Forward and rearward vision, in a single lens.

A semi-transparent mirrored zone, engineered into the lens surface. The rear-view mirror, built in.

The blind spot you have accepted

Top of the piste, traffic on every side.

A snowcat working a groomer. A drop-in skier already committed. A friend lost in the trees. Snow sports demand forward focus — line, speed, terrain.

The thing you would want to know is what just appeared behind you. The head-turn at speed on snow costs balance. The shoulder check costs the edge.

What the lens does for you

Awareness without losing line.

HINDSIGHT keeps the line clean. The mountain in front. The traffic behind, in the lens. No turn of the head. No moment off-balance.

Whether the discipline is groomed, off-piste, or competition — the rear-view sits where you can see it without taking your weight off the front edge.

The research

139 milliseconds faster.

Tested at Edinburgh Napier University.

Research conducted at Edinburgh Napier University measured how wearers respond to hazards approaching from behind, compared to the same wearers using conventional lenses.

Reaction time to a rear hazard was 139 milliseconds faster.

Questions

In plain language.

What does HINDSIGHT do for skiers and snowboarders?

Forward and rearward vision, delivered through a single semi-transparent mirrored lens. The mirrored zone is engineered into the lens surface. Forward vision continues through it. Shift focus and the rear-view appears.

Is this a replacement for a mirror accessory?

HINDSIGHT removes the need for an accessory. The mirror is the lens. The lens is the mirror.

Does the rear view distort forward focus?

The Napier study recorded forward vision continuing through the mirrored zone while wearing the lens. The rearward image sits in the natural peripheral field, the way a wing mirror sits in a driver's.

Is there independent research?

Yes. Research conducted at Edinburgh Napier University measured 139 milliseconds faster reaction to rear hazards.

Does it have cameras or electronics?

No. HINDSIGHT is passive optics. No cameras. No batteries. No screens. The lens is the mirror.

Can I get prescription lenses?

Prescription availability depends on the certified partner product. Look for the HINDSIGHT certification on partner sites.

Does HINDSIGHT work as ski goggles?

HINDSIGHT lens technology can be carried into goggle form by a certified partner. The current flagship Artemis and Morpheus frames are sunglass-format and pair with a helmet under spring conditions, not deep winter goggles. A purpose-built goggle is in development with category partners.

Will HINDSIGHT help on a busy resort piste?

Yes. Snowcat traffic, drop-in skiers, snowboarders carving across — all surface in the lens. Forward focus stays on terrain, line, and speed. No turn of the head.

Are HINDSIGHT lenses good for off-piste navigation?

Yes. Off-piste and backcountry users gain awareness of a partner or group member behind without breaking the forward line. Passive optics also means no battery dies in cold.

Will HINDSIGHT lenses scratch on snow?

Treat HINDSIGHT lenses like any premium sunglass. Hard cases for transport, microfibre for cleaning, no fingers on the mirrored zone. Specific scratch ratings are listed on each certified partner product.
