First Responders
The rear-view mirror, on scene.
You wouldn't drive without a rear-view mirror. Knowing what's happening around you is the difference between operating safely and operating blind — in any environment. HINDSIGHT brings that same standard to the first responder. Built into the lens.
The blind spot you have accepted
The scene moves in every direction. You face one.
Multi-casualty incidents. Mountain rescue with a team strung out across a slope. Fire ground with crew working zones you cannot see.
The work demands forward focus on the casualty, the victim, the building — while the rest of the scene moves around you.
A car has
Three mirrors. Centre, left, right.
First responder has had
None, built in. Until now.
HINDSIGHT
The rear-view mirror, built into the lens.
What the lens does for you
The team behind, the scene around, in the lens.
HINDSIGHT carries your partner, the approaching traffic, the second casualty walking up behind you — into the same lens you are already wearing for debris protection.
Stay heads-down on the patient. The scene surfaces in peripheral focus, the way a wing mirror surfaces traffic behind a car.
Rear-view, built in
The lens is the mirror. The mirror is the lens.
The research
139 milliseconds faster.
Tested at Edinburgh Napier University.
Research conducted at Edinburgh Napier University measured how wearers respond to hazards approaching from behind, compared to the same wearers using conventional lenses.
Reaction time to a rear hazard was 139 milliseconds faster.

Questions
In plain language.
What does HINDSIGHT do for first responders?
Forward and rearward vision, delivered through a single semi-transparent mirrored lens. The mirrored zone is engineered into the lens surface. Forward vision continues through it. Shift focus and the rear-view appears.
Is this a replacement for a mirror accessory?
HINDSIGHT removes the need for an accessory. The mirror is the lens. The lens is the mirror.
Does the rear view distort forward focus?
The Napier study recorded forward vision continuing through the mirrored zone while wearing the lens. The rearward image sits in the natural peripheral field, the way a wing mirror sits in a driver's.
Is there independent research?
Yes. Research conducted at Edinburgh Napier University measured 139 milliseconds faster reaction to rear hazards.
Does it have cameras or electronics?
No. HINDSIGHT is passive optics. No cameras. No batteries. No screens. The lens is the mirror.
Can I get prescription lenses?
Prescription availability depends on the certified partner product. Look for the HINDSIGHT certification on partner sites.
Will HINDSIGHT help on a multi-casualty incident?
Yes. The lens carries the partner behind, the additional casualty walking up, the approaching ambulance, into peripheral vision. The responder stays heads-down on the patient in front.
Is HINDSIGHT compatible with a fire helmet?
Currently HINDSIGHT flagship frames are civilian sunglass format. Purpose-built fire and rescue frames are in active development with partners. The lens technology itself is transferable.
Will HINDSIGHT work on mountain rescue in cold conditions?
Yes. Passive optics, no battery to fail in cold, no screen to fog. The lens works in any conditions a quality sunglass works in.
Can I verify through GovX as a first responder?
Yes. Verified paramedics, firefighters, and SAR personnel can verify via GovX for access to HINDSIGHT certified products.

Product status
Built for cycling and e-mobility. Coming to the first responder.
The current HINDSIGHT product line — Artemis, Morpheus, and Night Lens — was engineered first for cycling and e-mobility, the disciplines with the cleanest data and the most direct safety case.
We are in active development with category partners to deliver eyewear purpose-built for the first responder. The HINDSIGHT lens technology is the same. The frame is engineered around how you use it.
If you want to experience HINDSIGHT today, Artemis and Morpheus are available now. They carry the same certified lens. They are not yet optimised for first responder-specific use.
